David Seidman
Of counsel
David represents a wide range of corporate clients, senior executives, and other clients as their external legal counsel and trusted advisor. As an investor in multiple companies, he is particularly focused on identifying legal solutions aligned with business objectives.
His primary areas of practice are corporate law and real estate law. Clients rely on his advice in matters related to financing, drafting and negotiating contracts, mergers and acquisitions, and risk mitigation. In some cases, his advice relates to a specific transaction or agreement; in others, it helps clients anticipate legal risks arising from significant legal and business developments.
He currently advises, among others, the largest healthcare laundry services provider in the United States, a hotel management company, a company developing gunshot detection software, and a company producing software supporting mental health.
Another area of his practice is dispute prevention and resolution. His experience in corporate and real estate law enables him to advise clients on how to avoid typical disputes before they arise. When disputes do proceed to litigation or arbitration, he vigorously advocates for his clients.
Before relocating with his family to Chicago in 2003, David served from 1998 to 1999 as a law clerk to Judge William D. Stiehl of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. He subsequently moved to Washington, D.C., where he specialized in international transportation law. During that time, he participated in a case that progressed from the trial court to the Supreme Court of the United States, which affirmed his client’s position: Federal Maritime Commission v. South Carolina State Ports Authority, 535 U.S. 743 (2002).
